Scotland Photography Workshops

Coming 2027 / 2028

Discover the wild beauty of Scotland through immersive photography workshops designed for both beginners and experienced photographers. From dramatic Highland peaks and ancient temperate rainforests to rugged coastlines and hidden lochs, these workshops will offer a unique opportunity to develop both technical camera skills and a deeper understanding of the landscape itself.

With over 25 years of experience as a landscape photographer, I bring not only photographic knowledge but also an environmental eye shaped by decades spent working in nature. These workshops are about more than simply taking pictures — they are about learning to read the light, understand the land, and create meaningful images that reflect the atmosphere and character of Scotland’s wild places.

Moving to the wilder landscapes of the UK, Scotland offers endless inspiration and a diverse range of locations to work in — from its temperate forests and dramatic Highland peaks to miles of breathtaking coastline shaped by weather and time.

1 to 1 Photography Workshops

Personalised one-to-one workshops tailored to your experience level and photographic goals. Whether you want to improve composition, master filters and long exposures, understand landscape lighting, or simply gain confidence in the field, these sessions will be built entirely around you.

Group Photography Days

Small group workshops will also be available at carefully selected locations across Scotland, offering a relaxed and inspiring environment to learn alongside other photographers.

One of the featured locations will be the stunning Benmore Botanic Garden, situated just a stone’s throw from our new home. Surrounded by towering redwoods, exotic plant collections, and dramatic scenery, Benmore provides an exceptional setting for photography throughout the seasons.

Craftsman Film Photography Workshops

For photographers wanting to experience a more traditional and deliberate approach to image making, I will also be offering specialist Craftsman Workshops focused on medium and large format film photography.

These workshops are designed for those wishing to gain hands-on experience shooting film using medium format and large format cameras, covering everything from film stocks and lens suitability to meter readings, exposure control, and working methods in the field.

Topics will include:

  • Understanding different film types and characteristics
  • Working with medium and large format cameras
  • Light metering and exposure techniques
  • Lens selection and focal length suitability
  • Field workflow and film handling
  • Slowing down and composing with intent

In my eyes, there is no truer way to photograph a landscape than on a sheet of film — a process that demands patience, understanding, and complete connection with the scene in front of you.

Bird of Prey Photography Workshops

Dedicated bird of prey photography workshops will also be available for photographers wanting to improve both their technical ability and field knowledge.

These sessions will focus on:

  • Camera settings for action and wildlife photography
  • Tracking and focus techniques
  • Understanding natural light for wildlife images
  • Technical guidance in the field
  • Fieldcraft and ethical working practices
  • Understanding bird behaviour and movement

These workshops are aimed at helping photographers gain confidence capturing birds in flight and producing stronger, more dynamic wildlife images while developing a greater respect and understanding for the subjects themselves.
